Marco Cipolli, M.D.

Since 1985 I have been working in pediatrics, initially following infectious diseases. In 1988 I begun to work in cystic fibrosis (CF), focusing my attention to respiratory aspects. Since 1991 I have been studying also gastroenterological aspects, in particular liver and pancreatic issues of both cystic fibrosis and non-cystic fibrosis patients. In the same year I begun to follow patients with Shwachman-Diamond syndrome studying phenotypical and epidemiological aspects. In fact, since 1995 I have been coordinating the Italian Registry of SDS patients. In 2014 I became the Head of the first Regional Center of Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (Verona, Italy), following almost 40 patients with SDS. From 2008 to 2016 I directed the Clinical Research Center at the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Verona, Italy, coordinating almost 20 clinical studies in cystic fibrosis. In 2016  I have directed the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Ancona, Italy, following also more than 30 patients with SDS coming from the Italian central regions. Since September 2019 I have been heading the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Verona, which is one of the largest CF center of Europe. Since 2020 he is President of the Italian Scientific Society on Cystic Fibrosis (SIFC), that connects all the Italian CF Centers to pursue clinical trials and clinical research projects.
